NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY

Great Ocean Road, Victoria

Kapas Island

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf's a flower
But only so an hour
Then leaf subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief.
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay

-Robert Frost

  1. what a great poem!reminds us of nothingness out of something. And Shakespeare' eternal summer was truer as its everlasting beauty lingers in mind & perception not elsewhere in this ephemeral existence.

  2. the poem can be interpreted in so many ways! that's why it's a great poem. I'd rather interpret it as something that has got to do with fading youth! say hi to wrinkles.

as to shakespeare's eternal summer,it is so amazing how the beauty mentioned is kept and preserved in the minds of those who read it for generations.. but the beauty appreciated might only be superficial beauty~but then only shakespeare knew
